If the event occurs close to the deadlines, it may not be possible to get a decision prior to the deadline/exam.
This means if it is coursework you should submit it anyway by the original deadline and keep working on the assignment. When you submit, you must include the term ‘ECPending’ in the submission file name
If it is an exam, then you need to decide whether or not you are well enough to attend the exam. Note, if you attend an exam it is not possible to self-certify your EC claim for that exam and you will have to submit a claim with evidence . This is the case even if that exam permits self-certification of EC.
If the claim is not approved, then:
If it was an exam and you did not attend it, you will get a mark of zero
If it was coursework, and you did submit before the deadline, that work will be marked as normal.
If it was coursework and you submitted it but after the deadline, that work will be marked as normal and a late penalty applied as appropriate.
If it was coursework and you did not submit anything, you will get a mark of zero.
Note, only students at the UK campus can self-certify for an EC. It is not applicable to students at the campuses in Malaysia or China.
