If you have applied for a Student visa and you are studying with us in the UK for more than six months and are not from the EU, EEA or Switzerland, we would expect you to be issued with a BRP.

If you are staying in the UK for six months or less, your total visa period will be confirmed in your passport on a vignette visa sticker, or as a visa entry stamp. You will not have a BRP.

If you are staying in the UK for more than six months, as a student visa holder, but you are from the EU, EEA or Switzerland and you have a biometric passport, you will use the 'UK Immigration: ID Check' app to complete an identity check for your visa application.  As such, you will not be asked to attend a biometric enrolment appointment and when your visa is issued, you will receive a digital immigration status which you will be able to view and prove online here. You will not receive an entry clearance vignette sticker in your passport or a BRP.
